Provenance:
Bonhams, Knightsbridge, 6 November 2007, lot 327 (£2,160 inc. premium)
Condition report:
1 pendulum. 2 weights. 1 case key
The movement and case may be associated. It is however of the right period. Overall the case is in good condition. The hood may well have had a dome structure which is commonly removed to reduce the height. The stepped plinth is later. There are marks and knocks consistent with age. The movement is dirty and will require a full service. There has been a V -shaped cut in the backplate around a pivot (probably to alter its engagement) which looks poor. There is another drill hole just above the anchor wheel pivot which will also require careful filling.
The calendar ring is probably associated as it is too small for the dial aperture.
