Vintage Wedding Gown:
Thought to be the Society wedding of the year on the hottest day of 1968, Juliet Durie in her tailormade Dior gown, wed aristocrat The Honourable John Greville Napier; the third son of Lord Napier & Ettrick, descendant of one of Scotland’s oldest clans.
This glamorous couple carted through the streets of St James’s Piccadilly in AA1 with the closure of London’s busiest road. As the couple drove towards their destination at Quaglinos, Juliet’s cream Dior dress was on full display, its spectacular design witnessed not only by wedding guests, but by numerous pedestrians passing through the heart of England’s capital city. Juliet was not just your average lady; she was the only daughter of the Director General of the Automobile Association; the AA. Juliet had impeccably high standards and the dress was made and designed completely for her.
This vintage wedding made headlines in the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Express, The Edinburgh Tatler and was also blasted across regional papers. Juliet’s cream Dior dress would have been seen and admired by millions. Matter of fact, the Dior Heritage archive was keen to acquire the famous and stunning dress.
