Inlaid with borders of various hard stones including lapis lazuli, the gilt-metal mounted with two medallions depicting two saints, probably the Virgin Mary and the Angel, mounted in a later giltwood moulded frame, the panel, 20 x 14.5cm; 30.5 x 25cm with frame

A comparable example was sold by Bonhams, London, 5 July 2024, lot 13. This panel, attributable to the Grand Dual Workshops, was considered originally part of larger table cabinet. The two portrait medallions also after Fra Bartolommeo’s fresco at the Santissima Annunziata, Florence, but possibly of a later date.
