Mounted on ebonised socles, 70cm and 68cm high

Similar busts are signed R. Thiele, for Rudolf Thiele (1856-1930), a German sculptor, active in the late 19th and early 20th Century. He created several versions of his North African woman and other subjects. 


Condition report: 

Old dirt, dust and rubbing and fading commensurate with age.


Various chips and scuffs, notably some chips to the female including the nose, neck and front of headdress. 

Some older repairs, including to the back of the turban of the man.

The man also inscribed Johnson July 10 1930 Aged 12 to the back. 

Ebonised bases.
