Footnote
Bourke de Vries is a Dutch ceramic conservator and artist, who studied at West Dean College after an initial career in the fashion industry. He is now highly successful and represented by Adrian Sassoon in the UK and internationally. The theme of 'Dead Nature' runs through his work, exploring and playing upon the 17th Century tradition of Dutch still life painting. Rendered in three-dimension, de Vries gives these broken works of art a new lease of life - a modern day vanitas.

Condition Report
The elements of sculpture appear sound; there is bloom to the fruit and dust to the leaves but this appears to be work of the artist.  The glass case is sealed shut and there are traces of adhesive to the marble base, some dirt and minor abrasions to glass, otherwise sound overall.
