PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM, MONGOLIA - An album of 20 mounted albumen silver print photographed views of the Russian colony in Urga, [now Ulaanbaatar], Mongolia, signed in the plate by the photographer, in Cyrillic, [?]"Voradyev", with later printed mounted captions in Cyrillic beneath a few photographs, all mounted on grey card (many captions detached, some light staining to mounts, not affecting photographs), the morocco album lettered in Cyrillic in gilt, watered silk liners, clasps, size of album: folio (530 x 380mm), the photographs of varying sizes, some mounted two to a page, [late 19th-century]. The photographs are numbered in the captions from 71 to 90, suggesting that they are part of an incomplete set. A modern photocopy of a translation of this booklet into English is included. ("[These photographs depict] the Russian colony in Urga about 1861, after the Treaty of Peking was concluded ...").
