New Edition. London: "Printed for Richard Phillips," 1809. 8vo (188 x 115mm). 14 engraved plates, all but one folding (occasional light spotting and staining). Contemporary calf-backed paper boards (rubbed, joints split, one signature and a conjugate plate detached, some other leaves loose). Provenance: Sigurd von Numers (modern signature on the title; please see note to lot 304). The final, and largest, plate is captioned "View of Herschel's Forty foot reflecting Telescope." cf. Osborne Collection of Early Children's Books p.216 (citing the first edition of 1805).
