BINDING - Charles DICKENS (1812-70).  A Christmas Carol. London: William Heinemann, 1915. Small 4to in 8s (193 x 142mm). Half title, coloured frontispiece and 11 plates by Arthur Rackham, illustrations, some full-page (the plate opposite p.16 torn and repaired, some faint mainly marginal spotting and browning to a few text leaves). FINELY BOUND by Bayntun (Rivière) in full red crushed pictorial morocco gilt, the upper cover with the figure of Scrooge holding a sack of money in front of a sprig of holly in coloured morocco onlays, the lower cover with the figure of Scrooge beneath a sprig of mistletoe, the spine gilt in six compartments with mistletoe motifs stamped in gilt in four, dentelles, marbled endpapers, gilt edges, the original pictorial cloth gilt upper wrapper and endpapers bound in at the end, red cloth slipcase with silk ribbon.
