Woodcut device on the title and repeated at the end, one leaf with elaborate woodcut border and initial, woodcut ornaments and initials (title stained, some mainly marginal staining). Contemporary speckled calf ruled in blind with cornerpieces, vellum stubs at the front and back (neatly and inconspicuously rebacked some time ago). Provenance: George Drewry Squibb (1906-94, lawyer, herald and antiquary, his label); [?]P. Tyrwhitt (old signature on title); another old illegible signature on title. In this edition of Plutarch's moral works each section is translated by a different humanist scholar including Erasmus, Bude, Politano and Melancthon.
