London: Printed by the Assigns of Richard and Edward Atkins, 1702. Parts I - II only (of 3) bound in one, folio (308 x 190mm). Engraved portrait of the author, text in French and largely printed in black letter (some light mainly marginal spotting and staining, some darker spots, a few leaves lightly browned). Contemporary panelled calf (upper joints splitting, rubbed and scuffed). Provenance: Snr. [?]Morse (old signature on title). FIRST EDITION. With 26 works in 37 vols. including Canones et decreta sacrosancti ([No place], 1564 [bound with:] Index librorum prohibitorum, cum regulis confectis per Patres à Tridentina Synodo delectos [N.p., n.d.], 2 works in one vol., 8vo, lacks all before title [i.e. blanks], last few leaves defective, contemporary elaborately blind-stamped vellum, clasps, worn and stained, copious later annotation), Bernard de Fontenelle's Nouveaux Dialogues des Morts (Amsterdam, 1687, contemporary vellum), [Pierre Nicole's] Essais de Morale Contenus en Divers Traites sur Plusieurs Devoirs Importans (Paris, 1715-32, vols. I - XI and XIV only, 12mo, contemporary calf), François de Boutaric's Les Institutes de l' Empereur Justinien, conferées avec le Droit François (Toulouse, 1740, contemporary calf), Sacrorum bibliorum vulgate editionis concordantiæ (Venice, 1770, contemporary calf, heavily rubbed), Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield's Letters ... to his Son (London, 1774, 2 vols., lacks portrait, contemporary calf, rebacked, FIRST EDITION, first issue) and John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress, from This World to that which is to come (London, 1775, engraved frontispiece and 21 plates only (of 22), contemporary calf, rebacked, rubbed and scuffed).
