PEZRON, Paul-Yves (1640-1706).  L' Antiquité des Tems [sic] Rétablie et Défenduë contre les Juifs et les Nouveaux Chronologistes. Paris: Chez la Veuve d' Edme Martin, Jean Boudot et Estienne Martin, 1687. 4to (248 x 180mm). Engraved illustration on title, engraved illustration of the Tower of Babel at head of first chapter, pictorial initial, typographical headpieces and ornaments (title lightly browned and spotted, a few dark spots and lighter spotting to first few leaves). Contemporary calf, spine with 5 raised bands, gilt edges (rather worn, some erosion to head and foot of spine, joints splitting). Provenance: Henricus Liber Baro de Gudenus (armorial bookplate); some later pencil annotation to front free endpaper ("Anti Judaica"). FIRST EDITION of this work in which the author, a Cistercian, maintains the authority of the Septuagint chronology against that of the Hebrew Bible.
