ZANGAKI BROTHERS (fl. 1860s-90s, photographers). 15 albumen silver prints of Egypt by the Zangaki Brothers, some with printed signature, undated [but c. 1870], average size of photographs 210 x 280mm. The photographs are, for the most part, indistinctly captioned in the print and are not mounted. Little is known of the Zangaki Brothers except that their initials were C. and G., they were of Greek origin and were active as photographers in Ottoman Egypt from the 1860s to the 1890s. They specialised in photographing ancient monuments, often enlivened with scenes of daily life. Please note that only a part of this lot is illustrated. (15)
