Half title, 14 lithographed plates by J. G. Armytage and R. P. Cuff after the author, each in 2 states, the second state plates captioned in pencil, 2-pages of publisher's advertisements at the end (occasional light spotting and staining). FINELY BOUND in later dark green crushed morocco gilt by Henry Sotheran, the spine with 5 raised bands and decorated in gilt, top edges gilt, others uncut, marbled endpapers, green silk marker (spine very slightly faded, corners lightly rubbed, faint scuff mark to lower cover). Provenance: S. C. Lister, Swinton Park (armorial bookplate); from the Collection of the late Professor Bernard Nevill (1930-2019). Second Edition.
