The author was a French engineer, physiologist and ‘chronophotographer’ who devised a number of pioneering photographic and graphical techniques for the interpretation of physiological movements and other data. Locomotion Terrestre et Aérienne (Paris, Librairie Germer Baillière, 1873, 8vo, illustrations and diagrams, stained, original cloth gilt, FIRST EDITION of this work in which the author describes his first experiments in ‘chronophotography’, and which includes the first discussion of the principle of moving pictures). Provenance: from the Collection of Peter and Margarethe Braune.
