FREUD, Sigmund (1856-1939). Der Wahn und die Träume in W. Jensens “Gradiva”. Vienna and Leipzig: Hugo Heller, 1907. Large 8vo (219 x 148mm). 82-pages. Contemporary black paper boards, spine lettered in gilt (rubbed and scuffed). Provenance: illegible signature on front free endpaper. FIRST EDITION of Freud’s first published analysis of a work of literature, and one of his earliest psycho-analytic works of any kind. Their ensuing correspondence initiated a long friendship and correspondence. With the same author’s Hemmung, Symptom und Angst (Leipzig, 1926, original yellow cloth, FIRST EDITION).
