Spooner's
Panoramic View of the Queen's Marriage Procession. [London: Published by
William Spooner, Printed by L. M. Lefevre, c. 1840]. Hand-coloured aquatint
continuous panoramic strip on 18 sheets, joined (lacking the engraved title
sheet), c. 3,000 x 140mm., folding into original green cloth wallet. The
panorama comprises a three-metre depiction of the procession of Queen Victoria
and Prince Albert, and their retinue, across St James' Palace into the Chapel
Royal, where their wedding was held. Spooner had earlier published a similar
panorama of Queen Victoria's Coronation, and produced other such 'novelty'
items as a peep show of the Great Exhibition of 1851. Sold not subject to
return.
