Engraved portrait of the author, dedication, printed in double column, engraved and woodcut illustrations, including some full-page genealogies, coins, initials, ornaments and tables (lacks engraved and printed titles, portrait laid down and frayed at edges with some loss, some mainly light staining and spotting). Later calf decorated in blind (heavily rubbed and scuffed, spine faded). Provenance: Henry Ashworth James (armorial bookplate); inscription dated 1833 at foot of dedication.
