Little is known of Peter Exell; his work was included in the 1950 Arts Council Tour of Young Contemporaries, a strategy designed to show the work of living artists outside of London and throughout the United Kingdom, which ran between 1949-1968 and included the likes Frank Auerbach, Donald Hamilton Fraser and Patrick Procktor.
