Please see extra images with the addition leaf in place. It’s supported by sliding runners. Possibly a securing screw is lacking from both sides of these runners and they would benefit from being secured together.
The surfaces of the table have been polished and lacquered - a few old marks and scratches are apparent, commensurate with use and age.
