The first probably Yaka, flanked by two cloth covered bundles of feathers and twigs, attached with plant fibre twine, 55cm high; the second possibly Luba with hat and scarifications to chest, 45cm high; and a Songye figure, with beard, 34cm high


Condition report: 

Numerous losses, notable to the one foot. 

Various other chips, losses and holes commensurate with abe and material. 

The second figure with shrinkage splits and loss.. 

The third also with loss to the base and side of the upper body and under the arm. 

Scuffs and dirt commensurate with use and age. 

The Yaka is an independent society located in Northern Congo, practising small scale farming and hunting. Statuettes are used for magic and ancestor worship, among other traditional activities.
