MANNER OF HUBERT VON HERKOMER

The canvas has been relined and put on a new stretcher.  There is a two inch tear, lower right which has gone through both the original canvas and relining.  Otherwise the paint surface is clean and sound.  Ultraviolet reveals infilling to craquelure, particularly to the dark pigments forming the barn interior; some traces of fluorescence to the signature but a later varnish prevents conclusive reading.
