WNAI - AN 18TH-CENTURY ITALIAN MOTHER-OF-PEARL AND PEWTER INLAID EBONISED COMMODE

Condition report: 

Shrinkage split running the width of the top. 

Many losses to the mother of pearl inlay, notably to the central motif of the top, with further leaves missing. Missing elements of inlay in other areas. 

Numerous pieces of pewter pinging up and missing, mostly to the sides. 

Worm damage quite extensive in areas, notably the back foot, bottom edge and worm tracks visible to the top. Later timbers used to support plinth and back legs, see images. 

Losses along the plinth edge and further wear, together with a missing block to the front left top corner of the projecting angle. 

Handles to the top drawer are later associated. Another below missing a loop pull. 

Wear , shrinkage and loses to the drawer linings which are lined and painted. 

Otherwise the general and inevitable scuffs, scrathes, dents, small chips and marks commensurate with wear, use and age. Dirt and dust.
