A JAPANESE IVORY 'CLAM'S DREAM'

Meiji period,
The shell opening to reveal figures including two fishermen in a boat, signed, 8cm wide; also an ivory okimono of a man and child, signed, 10.5cm high

Clams dream- there are some natural splits to the ivory on the rims of the shell.

Okimono- both of the figures are attached to the base with pegs. Man's right is lacking. Pipe in mouth is also lacking. Shallow chip to edge of boy's right foot. Object on the ground has small losses to one end.
