BINDING - Albert Frederic POLLARD (1869-1948).  Henry VIII. London: Goupil & Co., 1902. 4to (325 x 250mm). Half title, fine coloured portrait frontispiece of Henry VIII after Hans Holbein, plates and illustrations (some spotting and staining, tissue guards browned). FINELY BOUND in contemporary full crushed scarlet armorial morocco gilt by Bumpus Ltd., the upper cover with the royal coat-of-arms stamped in gilt, the spine with five raised bands and royal motifs in the compartments, top edges gilt, others uncut (skillfully rebacked, spine darkened, some very faint white staining to the covers). Provenance: rectangular light brown stain on front pastedown from where an old bookplate has probably been removed. FIRST EDITION. NUMBER 1,023 OF 1,150 COPIES "ON FINE PAPER".
