[?Geneva: no publisher but ?Pietro Aubert], 1550 [but c.1635]. 5 parts bound in one volume, 4to (207 x 165mm). Woodcut portrait of the author on the title and repeated on the dedication leaf and on 3 further part titles, double-page woodcut illustration (variable browning, spotting and staining throughout, a few darker spots). Contemporary full vellum, title with red roan lettering-piece, black edges (stained, lettering-piece rubbed). Provenance: "[?]E. Sivers" (old signature on first title); later related signature dated 1898 beneath; "Ex Bibliotheca Heldiana" (later library stamp on first title); number "212" written on the verso of the front free endpaper. Bertelli-Innocenti Bibliografia Machiavelliana 206a; Brunet III, 221: "Cette édition est peu recherchée en France, mais elle l'est davantage en Italie, où on la désigne sous le nom d'edizione della testina, parce que le titre porte un petit portrait de Machiavel, copiésur l'edition des Discorsi, par Comin da Trino, 1540. Elle n'a pas été imprimée à Rome, chez Blado, comme pourrait le faire croire le privilége accordé par le pape Clément VII, à cet imprimeur, pour son édition de 1532, et qui a été réimpr. dans celle-ci. On en cite même un exempl. sur le frontispice duquel se lit In Gineura per Pietro Aubert. [etc.]"
