Original black cloth, the spine lettered in gilt, the dust-jacket designed by Ian Hughes with a coloured illustration by Gerald Grace on the front cover and a monochrome photographed portrait of the author on the rear wrapper with the price of £8.95 unclipped. The recipient of this presentation copy was David Baldock who worked for the "Forbidden Planet" bookshop in London for many years and was well-known to the writers who launched their books there throughout the 1970s and into the early 1990s. Loosely-inserted is a promotional flyer for the Christine signing event dated Saturday 14 May [1983], the same date of the author's inscription.
