Large oblong 4to (451 x 615mm). Half title, 20 coloured plates by Quentin Blake. Original pale grey hessian boards, the original printed label mounted on the upper cover, stitched, with the original publisher's cardboard packing case. "The watercolour drawings were directly scanned from the originals and printed on Rivoli White paper on a single colour press by Smith Settle, Otley, Yorkshire, who also made the laced binding. Book designed by Peter Campbell" (from the colophon). Provenance: FROM THE ESTATE OF RUSSELL HOBAN; the original publisher's cardboard packing case bears a printed postage label to Russell Hoban's address in London. FIRST EDITION.
