Half title, coloured frontispiece and 26 plates by Beatrix Potter (a few marginal tears without loss, some light mainly marginal staining). Original paper boards with coloured pictorial label mounted on upper cover, rebacked and recornered in attractive later morocco gilt. Provenance: "Mother's love to Pickles, Nov. 11th/09" (inscription on front free pictorial endpaper). Early reprint. With 2 other books by the same author, namely The Tale of Mr Jeremy Fisher (London, [n.d. but c.1911]) and The Tale of Jemima Puddleduck (London, [n.d. but c.1912], both early reprints, uniformly bound in later half morocco gilt, forming an attractive set.
