SAINT AUGUSTINE or AUGUSTINE OF HIPPO (354-430).  Opuscula divi Augustini longe prestantissima cum duplici indicio rursus Parisiis compressa. Paris: [from the colophon to the first part:] “impe[n]sis Joannis parui bibliopole parisien … Mccccc.xxi [i.e. 1521], Die. Xv. Mensis Julii” [and from the colophon to the second part:] “Impressa sunt hec opuscula impe[n]sis Joannis parui bibliopole Parisien … Anno dni. M. quinsentesimo vicesimo” [1520]]. 2 parts in one volume, large 8vo (205 x 143mm). Engraved armorial illustration on first page of each part, initials, printed in double column, black letter (some mainly marginal spotting, staining and browning, one section browned in second part, stain to [oo v] in second part). Contemporary calf decorated in blind (worn, covers detached, heavily rubbed, book block broken in several places). Provenance: Stephen White (armorial bookplate); some very sparse old underlining and marginalia. Although collated complete, the poor condition of the book compels us to sell it not subject to return. Adams A2170.
