TWO RARE MEISSEN FIGURES OF A VEGETABLE AND FRUIT SELLER FROM THE `CRYES OF LONDON'

Circa 1755
Modelled by J.J.Kaendler and P.Reinicke after engravings by Pierce Tempest (1653-1702), as a woman balancing a basket of cucumbers on her head and holding a bundle of wheat and a man with a basket of pears on his head, each raised on a scroll moulded base picked out in gilding, blue crossed swords marks to rear of base, impressed `11' and `12', 15.5cm and 16.5cm high.
