The chess set in boxwood and ebony, the white king approx 8.8cm high and stamped to the base JAQUES LONDON (Jaques over stamped Leuchars), red crowns stamped to each knight and rook, contained in a Carton Pierre casket with remnants of Jaques label to the underside,21.5cm wide x 10cm high, together with a matching folding chess board, 51.5cm x 52cm


Condition report:

- Chessmen: Chips to the knops of 3 black pawns and a chip to the bishop point, white rooks with two minor chips to the lower column rim, otherwise all pieces are green felted and generally in good order. 

- Only the black Queen has a green registration sticker to the underside

- The pieces are not weighted. 

- Casket: Requires professional restoration, interior of cover is split, one side panel pushed in, one figure missing from under the arches of the sides, old glue repairs to each corner, interior velvet dirty and stained, overall in poor condition, see all additional images


- Chessboard: Hinge broken down the middle and the board is in two pieces, top in ok condition with general age related wear and marks, carved wooden exterior with some chips and small losses otherwise ok.
