Worked in coloured wools and silks, on a linen ground with bands of graduated alphabets, floral motifs between geometric patterns, enclosed by a repeat floral border, later framed, 30cm x  40cm

Condition report:

Several losses and wear, notably loss to top left corner and bottom left, with further wear to the opposing corners. 

Slight fraying to the edges in areas. 

Some thinning to the linen and some later repair stitching to an areas along a band of Vitruvian scrolling to the left hand side, together with smaller patches. 

Some sun fading and discolouration commensurate with age. 

Printed note to the reverse detailing the history of Henry Cassels Kay (1827-1903), grandfather to Henry Graeme Aytoun Kay.
