Condition report:

Wear and tear, scuffs, knocks, shrinkage and losses commensurate with use and age. Notably edges of the legs  are worn and side rails with losses along the edges, especially the bottom edges.

The top is notably worn, with old worm holes to the far left rail with subsequent small losses.  Front rail re-connected at some point. Fading and wear to surface.

The hinged lid  and overall structure would benefit from resecuring, as with time and timber shrinkage rails to the sides have become loose.

See images of both sides and top on www.bellmans.co.uk.

Gaps between joints are visible, especially to the back left side with nails visible, front bottom left side rail where left front leg resecured with visible hole. .

Replacement pine bottom boards.

Coffer would have been originally fitted with an internal side tray.

Lock clasp missing.
