Estimate: £400 - £600
Hammer price: £500
Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

A shell cameo and diamond brooch, the oval shell cameo carved as the portrait of a gentleman wearing a wreath, within a diamond set surround mounted mostly with cushion shaped diamonds, in a gold and silver setting, length 3.4cm, with a case.

Discolouration at the top of the brooch visible from the back. Diamonds are old cut, a mixture of cuts, the setting is silver, gold backed, gross weight 10.8 gms. Fairly well carved. Looks as thought  the back might be associated, front frame is attached to the diamond surround at four points by lead solder, which are a bit damaged in places, This piece needs some tidying up. Cameo is lacking polish from the front, probably the result of chemical cleaning.
